Q: What is the quality of the custom rail shirts?
A: All custom rail shirts are made of four-way stretch lycra for a fitted, comfortable and sleek fit. All seams are professionally serged and hemmed. Zippers are a very durable, high quality sport zipper and are triple stitched for durability.

Q: What is the quality of the crystal t-shirts?
A: All custom designed t-shirts are 100% pre-shrunk cotton. The crystals are genuine SWAROVSKI crystals that are heat pressed and are machine washable.

A: There are many other t-shirt colors available. The Painted Pony highly recommends that you are careful when selecting a crystal t-shirt color that is other than black. Swarovski crystals on a t-shirt show the most bling when there is a direct contrast in colors - which means black gives the most bling of any other color t-shirt!

Q: Will you custom-make a rail shirt if I have my own fabric?
A: Yes. A custom-made rail shirt original can be made from fabrics that The Painted Pony currently has in stock, or from fabric that you already have.

Q: What is the quality of the crystals?
A: One thing that is never sacrificed is quality. Only genuine SWAROVSKI crystals are used in both the rail shirt originals and the custom-designed t-shirts unless otherwise specified. For example, the t-shirt "Loves Leather and Studs" is done in stud-nailheads to keep in the spirit of the saying on the t-shirt!

Q: How are the crystals applied?
A: There are essentially two ways in which to apply crystals. The most common way is heat-set crystals that have an adhesive back, and they are high-heat, (i.e. heat-set) glued into the fabric. When high quality genuine SWAROVSKI crystals are used, the heat-set crystals adhere to the fabric and are extremely durable. The other way to apply crystals is what is commonly known as rim-set. Rim-set crystals have a silver or gold rim that encompasses the crystal and the rim set has two-to-four prongs that pierce through the fabric and clasp at the back of the fabric. Rim-set crystals are the most secure way to attach crystals to your garment, but you sacrifice some of the *bling* of the crystal that is covered by the rim-set.

Q: What does The Painted Pony recommend for which type of crystal application to use?
A: Assuming you are having a rail shirt made, unless you are extremely hard on your clothing, heat-set crystals are fine and durable and are what I recommend for most people. If you are paying for a timeless, very expensive piece of clothing (such as a showmanship shirt with a lot of appliques, primarily leather and lots and lots of crystals) that you plan to keep in your wardrobe a long time, I would then recommend rim-set crystals. Be sure to consider this - in the unlikely chance you lose a crystal, it will be much easier for you to replace the crystal on your own if they are heat-set. If you have a shirt that loses a rim-set crystal, you need a rim-setter to reset the crystal. Most people don't own one!
